EDO REVENUE: Technical
Committee Submits Report to Harmonize Revenue Collection
The Edo State Chairman,
Technical Committee on law to harmonize revenue collection, Chief Oseni Elamah
on Tuesday in Benin City, presented its report to the state government for
onward action that would enhance corruption free exercise within the 18-local
government Areas.
While presenting
the document to the Deputy Governor, Chief Elamah disclosed that the use of
point of sales (POS) in collecting the stipulated revenue was enclosed in the committee’s
recommendations.
The chairman said
the committee recommended a 21-day pilot project to run in Oredo, Egor and
Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Areas respectively; adding further that, sensitization
campaign would be carried out to ensure smooth operations in the rest local
government Areas of the state.
Elamah pointed out
that in his top priority, adequate trainings would be given to revenue
collectors across the 18-LGA’s
Receiving the
report, the Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shuaibu, expressed satisfaction on
members of the committee for their promptness and remarked that laws binding
revenue collections in the state would be reviewed from time to time.
He
noted that the recommendations made by the committee, would also help to check
fraud in revenue collection between the state and the councils
