POLICE Sets Record Straight, Arrest Two, Declares Wanted Eight Others Over Cell Break In Edo

Edo State Police Command, says Two out of the Ten fleeing Suspected Criminals of the recent Police Cell break in Benin City, have been re-arrested, while Man Hunt for other eight escapees are ongoing.
Reacting to the incident, the state Command Spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, frowned at the figure of escapees speculated at Social media, describing it as 'Malicious'.
The statement issued reads as part; “Reacting to the publication that has gone viral on social media and other platforms alleging that hundreds of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers escaped from the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, facility.
Edo State Police Command wishes to inform the public that ten suspects escaped on the 1st of January 2021 at about 0245hrs (2.45am), out which two have been re-arrested and brought back to custody”.
“The figure is not as being maliciously and falsely speculated on social media”.
Our Correspondent,Eben Enasco who was at the State Police headquarter, noted that, the command had also launched investigations into the incident leading to the Cell break, just as it reassured of their Commitments
to protecting lives and property of citizens.
According to SP Nwabuzor, “The Policemen who were responsible for the safe custody of the escaped suspects have been identified, arrested and detained for departmental disciplinary process and Effort is being intensified to re-arrest the fleeing suspects”.
Recall that the Police Cell Break, was first reported on Sunday across conventional media and Citizens' Journalists, that several criminal suspects including kidnappers, armed robbers, fleeing prisoners, and cultists had escaped from the custody of the State Police Command.
In the Meantime, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone Five Benin AIG, SHOLA DAVID, yesterday paid official visit to the state Command to take on the spot assessments and make recommendations to the Inspector General of Police IGP, Muhammad Adamu.
