The near two-month-old ban placed on funeral activities in Benin City and its environs by the palace of the Omo N' Oba N' Edo have been lifted by the Crown Prince N' Uselu HRH, Eheneden Erediauwa.
In a message delivered by the Iyase of Benin Kingdom Chief Sam Igbe,noted that the crown Prince was aware of the plight of the people who have endured in the delays in their obligations to bury their departed ones.
Speaking to newsmen, Chief Igbe said,"he is with them in their anxieties and has graciously granted permission until further notice
for them to carry out the necessary burial ceremonies.
Recall that, on March 29, 2016, the Benin Traditional Council,BTC had
announced the transition of His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa,
Uku akpolokpolo Oba of Benin with a subsequently follow up on may 28,2016, a
ban on all funeral activities within the ambit of his subjects.
Igbe further stated that information regarding the pending coronation
ceremonies will be published in due course.
