The wake-keep and night of tributes for late music producer, OJB Jezreel
held last night at the O’Jez Celebrity Hang-Out, National Stadium,
Surulere, Lagos. Sammie Okposo, Lara George, Dj Boombastic, actress
Grace Amah, Dj Gosporella, Yvonne Jegede, Dj Humility, K- Solo, Essence,
KSB are some of the stars who were around to celebrate him. Abounce and
Jazzman Olofin, son and grandson in-law respectively of veteran
actress, Bukky Ajayi who died and was buried
on Wednesday
also attended the programme. The event was hosted by Okey Bakassi and
featured performances by Sammie Okposo and five of OJB’s children among
others. The children sang an emotional tribute song titled ‘You Are Not
Here’. DJ Humility reeled out songs produced by the Late OJB Jezreel
popularly known as Jigga.

Speaking at the event, Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede described his
death as a great loss ‘OJB was my friend and I’m a friend of the family.
He was one of the people who welcomed me into the entertainment
industry. His studio was one place I used to go and chill. We had very
good times and all those memories are now very precious. He was very
warm, his studio was an open house for all who wanted to come in and he
was friends with a lot of people. It’s a big loss because he impacted a
lot in the music industry. I’ll miss stopping by to say ‘Hi’ to him
whenever I drive through his street.” She said.
One of his daughters, Gloria also has this to say about her late dad ‘I
lack the words to describe my late dad. He was a great man and he has
touched so many lives. Each time I see the lives he has touched, I have
something to hold on to and to remember him for. I’ll miss our fights,
because we used to always fight. We were very close and I’m the one who
usually got him worked up. I miss him a lot.
Also, singer Essence said she’s grateful for the opportunity to have
known him “OJB was never a fake. He’ll always advise you. He doesn’t
impose himself on you. I thank God that we got the chance to know him.
He produced my first album and my first ever single.
